Consistent year long heating reducing costs & your carbon footprint!
Air source heat pumps (ASHP) are a green technology because they require less energy to generate heat than conventional methods. For every 3kW of heat produced they consume just 1kW of electricity. This gives ASHPs a coefficient of performance (COP) rating of 3. However, because air temperatures vary throughout the year, their average coefficient of performance is 3.4, which when compared with just a 0.8 for a traditional boiler, highlights air source heating as a superior and more sustainable heating method.
When temperatures drop below zero, air source heat pumps must work harder (just like traditional heating does), however they are able to generate heat from air temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius and there constant running, means there slow and steady approach to generating heat is more cost effective than firing up conventional heating on demand as we are accustomed to.
TER-ASHP™ systems work by hoovering air from outside to heat a liquid refrigerant (like a fridge but in reverse). The refrigerant is then further heated via compression which is powered by an internal pump and this compressed (heated) liquid releases its thermal energy which is then transferred into a building as heating or hot water.
TER-ASHP™ air source heat pumps will help you lower your carbon footprint as it uses a renewable, natural source of heat – air.
When powered with direct renewable energy such as Solar PV or grid supplied renewable energy, ASHPs become a zero carbon solution!
Furthermore, ASHPs utilise the latest low global warming potential refrigerant (R32) to further minimise their impact on the environment.
